Equatorial Guinea, who were disqualified from the preliminary rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations for cheating, are to replace Morocco as hosts of the 2015 event.

Morocco wanted the tournament postponed over fears of a spread of the Ebola virus but the Confederation of African Football (Caf) refused and on Tuesday stripped them of the hosting rights and kicked them out of the competition.

Wilson Kipsang won a lucrative duel to the finish to join compatriot Mary Keitany in a Kenyan sweep of the men's and women's races at a cold, windy New York City Marathon on Sunday.

 Kipsang and Keitany both pulled away in the last Central Park stretch, with Kipsang's victory bringing him a $600,000 payday as the win also gave him the $500,000 World Marathon Majors bonus.

Dennis Kimetto knocked 26 seconds off the world marathon record Sunday as the sub-two hour mark moved a step closer.

The 30-year-old Kenyan won the 41st edition of the Berlin Marathon in 2 hours, 2 minutes, 57 seconds, becoming the first man to complete a marathon in under 2 hours, 3 minutes.

Central and west Africans came away smiling Saturday after an announcement that the Africa Cup of Nations would be hosted by Cameroon in 2019, followed by Ivory Coast in 2021 and Guinea in 2023.

The losing bidders were Algeria and Zambia.

 In Usain Bolt's absence, training partner Kemar Bailey-Cole collected the first individual gold of his career by winning the 100 meters at the Commonwealth Games on Monday.

The Jamaican clocked exactly 10 seconds at the cool Hampden Park track in Glasgow, a tenth of a second ahead of English sprinter Adam Gemili while compatriot Nickel Ashmeade took bronze.
